5 Neat Things — Design, Development, Organization

June 12, 2012 | Written by Amber Sawaya

This is a round up post of some of the things we’ve been looking at lately.

1. Lots of data, small screen.

This is from a blog we love called Little Big Details. I’ve been having an ongoing conversation with EveryDave about solutions for this problem—specifically for us it’s how to fit large tables of data on a mobile device.

Doodle - Compresses dates that you did not select times in like an accordion.
Clicking on the accordion expands the entire calendar.

2. Responsive Images

Responsive, adaptive — like it or not, one image on a website is a thing of the past. We’re on our fourth major redesign using responsive techniques. We are still working through the best way for us, but here is an interesting article:

Which responsive image solution should you use?

3. Open/Close and More/Less

How have I never seen this before? Also from Little Big Details

Thunderbird - The little ‘+’ in the welcome screen tabs rotates to an ‘x’ when clicked.

4. Writing Copy for the Web

It’s not just stream of consciousness and it’s not a big beautiful full color brochure. It’s a tool.

5. What can you get done today?

This is a concept we’ve been working with some designers on — when you work in a company and you have a billion things to do, how do you accurately schedule or even communicate what you have going on. Goal Stacker could be a piece of the solution.
