The Right Way
The other day our friend Karen posted this quote by Hemingway:
“The right way to do it—style—is not just an idle concept,” he says. “It is simply the way to get done what is supposed to be done. The fact that the right way also looks beautiful when it’s done is just incidental.”
I’m struck by how much that same principal applies to User Interface (UI) work as to writing.
She also posted this dapper picture of Ernest in a manly sweater:

Why Build a Mobile App – Presentation
As we mentioned in our first Why Build a Mobile App blog post, we have put together a presentation. This presentation includes all of the information in the original post, plus numbers around the smartphone market and a lot more information about the development chain.
Take a look:
Example of Augmented Reality in Mobile Apps
Found this via Web Designer Depot — check out this sweet article about Augmented Grocery Shopping: How a Korean grocer moved virtual shopping to the subway.

Basically a grocery chain in Korea wanted to increase their market share without building more stores. To do this they created a store-like experience in the subway terminal where shoppers could choose products and snap QR codes and have their groceries show up at home.
We mentioned Augmented Reality in our blog post about building mobile apps, this is another great example.
My New Favorite Thing — Renting Construction Equipment
I use the phrase “my new favorite thing” all the time. So much so that when I branded something with that Steve looked at me and said, “that’s your old favorite thing…” Since I love a good series on a blog I thought I’d do a disjointed series on my New Favorite Thing. No posting schedule, just as I find things and decided I want to share them.

Did you know you can go to Diamond Rental and just get whatever you want? You don’t even know how to use it (to the slight but humorous dismay to the guy loading the backhoe on the trailer for us). In the last week we’ve rented a mini-backhoe AND a jackhammer. Just like that!
UPDATE: Also add stumpgrinder to the list of items rented last week. You really can do anything with an Amex and a trailer hitch.
